This 1.8-inch TFT LCD module is an excellent way to add a small, vibrant display to your projects.
This display is easy to use with any microcontroller, even those with limited memory and few available pins, because it uses 4-wire SPI communication and has its own pixel-addressable frame buffer.
With 128x160 color pixels, this is a true TFT display, unlike the lower-quality CSTN type displays (such as the "Nokia 6110"). The ST7735R driver chip can show a full 18-bit color range, which is 262,144 shades. You won't have to worry about your code not working with a different display since the driver chip is always the same.
The breakout board has the delicate TFT display already soldered on, and it includes an ultra-low-dropout 3.3V regulator and a 3/5V level shifter. This allows you to use it with either 3.3V or 5V power and logic. As an added bonus, a microSD card holder is included, making it simple to load full-color bitmaps from a FAT16/FAT32 formatted microSD card.
